INDUSTRY 4.0 AND NEXT GENERATION TECHNOLOGIES

Industry 4.0 or the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) is taking place around the globe
now. It refers to automation of manufacturing and Industrial practices, services and day to
day activities of human life. 4IR is the fusion of advances in Artificial Intelligence
(AI), Robotics, Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IOT),
Genetic Engineering, Quantum Computing, Additive Manufacturing,
Cyber Physical systems, Augmented Reality, virtual reality Data
               Analytics, 5G Mobile Technology etc.

A brief introduction about Next Generation technologies
associated with Industry 4.0 is given below:

Artificial Intelligence (AI): -It refers to the simulation of human intelligence by machines
               especially computers.

Robotics: - It is an interdisciplinary field that integrates computer
                                       science and engineering.

Machine Learning (ML): - It is a method of data analysis that
automates analytical model building. It is a subset of Artificial
Intelligence which enables to take decisions based on
data, patterns within minimal human intervention.

Internet of Things (IOT): - IOT refers to physical objects that are
embedded with sensors, processing, software connected to
system by communication network for exchange of data.

Additive Manufacturing: is the construction of a 3D object from a CAD model of
               a digital 3D model.

Virtual Reality: -It is the use of computer technology to create a
simulated environment with senses and objects that appear to
be real making the user feel immersed in their surroundings.

Augmented Reality: It is the real time use of information in the
form text, graphics, audio and other virtual enhancements
integrated with ‘real world’ objects. Augmented Reality integrates and adds

value to the user’s interaction with a real world versus a simulation.
